Kayla is still in Progressive Care Unit ..she is very tired and not her normal active self. Today I spent a good part of the day with Kayla and Cooper in the hospital room while Mommy and Daddy got out a little bit to shop for a change. Larry's been taking all the night shifts and I told him that there was only one place worse than this hospital confinement and that was Prison!! Except the "guards" are prettier here!
Kayla got her oxygen mask taken off today and a nose cannula put in while NaNa was there.....she's been so dependent on the mask that she didn't want to give it up. She tried it "over" the cannula and then held it for awhile until her attention could be distracted and I hid it from her on the bed....then, the nurse was able to a hang it on the rack without upsetting her.
They are giving her a new treatment where a mask pushes Oxygen into the lungs with alot of force....it also gives her the meds. needed ...... 4 times a day....but, as horrible as it is for Kayla, it's working as she coughs up some bad stuff after the treatments. This is one of those - holding arms down treatments as she HATES this one. It looks very scary to me so I know it must be terrifying for her! She sleeps after the treatment for a little while as it's very exhausting!
Eating was good today for Kayla....she can't eat much but did get down a whole small cup of pineapple, probably a cup of Macaroni & Cheese, Chicken nuggets, drank milk and just seemed a lot better today.
Cooper is a little upset with having to be room-bound for all these days. We went on a LONG walk around the floor to get him out of the room and thinking about something else. There's also a Children's play room and video library....but, these kids don't like TV so far!!!
Hannah Montana Stickers were the lifesaver on Christmas Day....oh my a big, huge sheet of stickers came to Kayla's bed and she worked and worked getting the sticker off and putting them on her head, hair, mask and pillow. I'll add pictures and you'll see the stickers on her. SO CUTE! She found one today that had 'blond' hair....she said "Lexis" and as I looked at it...she does look like Lexis a bit!! That was a cute moment. Now I'm a Hannah Montana fan!
Thank you for your prayers, they are working!
